 Grand Champion Named

Art Students Kick off The Fair

The Fair is days away but already a Grand Champion has been named in the School Art Auction Program. Students from all over the county representing 8th through 12th grades entered their artwork, each vying for the elusive Grand Champion Title. Bragging rights go to Seven Lakes High School for sweeping both Grand and Reserve Champion titles. Roxolana Krywonos’s painting, “Whittling The Day Away” earned Grand Champion honors and her classmate, Keana Asadiar earned Reserved Champion with her colored drawing, “Stroking The Fire”.

All entries depicted western influences, supporting the Fort Bend County Fair’s theme of “Celebrating Our Western Heritage”. Exhibits representing Paintings, Sculptures, Colored Drawings, and Monochromatic works were judged this past week.

The School Art Auction Program is designed to reward the effort and showcase the artwork for all Fort Bend County Students. “The Art Auction is just another way we are helping kids get to college,” says Brad Bowman, 2013 Fort Bend County Fair President.   He boasts,” Here at the Fort Bend County Fair we have some very talented kids, we are just thrilled to be able to help them achieve their goals.”

The top exhibits will be displayed in Building "B" until they are auctioned off at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2013.
